RECOMMENDED ACTION: Adopt Resolution No. 1368 approving plans and specifications and authorizing to advertise for bids for the construction of the Terramar Pressure Reducing Station Replacement, Project No. 5020, removing the existing Terramar Pressure Reducing Station. ITEM EXPLANATION: The existing Terramar Pressure Reducing Station for potable water located at 4865 El Camino Real has been replaced by a new pressure reducing station constructed at the corner of Jackspar Drive and Longfellow Road that provides safe and reliable water service to the area. The existing Terramar Pressure Reducing Station, built in the 1950s, is obsolete as a result of the 2008 construction of the El Camino Real Water System Project. The existing Terramar Pressure Reducing Station below ground vault will be abandoned and backfilled with cement slurry. All existing valves and mechanical equipment will first be removed. In addition, 720 linear feet of existing 8-inch potable water lines will be taken out of service and abandoned in place, with a new connection installed at the intersection of Rancho Carlsbad Drive and El Camino Real. ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: The project is exempt from environmental review per CEQA Guidelines Section 15301(b) - minor alterations to existing facilities, including publicly-owned utilities, involving negligible or no expansion. FISCAL IMPACT: Table 1 shows the current estimated cost for the Terramar Pressure Reducing Station Replacement.
