RECOMMENDED AaiON:
Board of Directors ofthe Carlsbad Municipal Water District (CMWD) Adopt Resolution No. 1475
accepting the contract for construction of the "Dl" & "D2" Steel Water Tanks Interior and Exterior
Coatings & Structural Repairs, Project No. 50241, as complete, and directing the Secretary to record a
Notice of Completion and release bonds in accordance with State Law and City Ordinances.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
On February 28, 2012, the CMWD awarded a contract to Advanced Industrial Services, Inc. in the amount
of $499,800 for the construction of the "Dl" & "D2" Steel Water Tanks Interior and Exterior Coatings &
Structural Repairs, Project No. 50241.
On January 29, 2013 the CMWD approved an increase in the construction contingency from $66,000 to
$200,000 in order to replace roof rafters and support beams in the "D2" Tank that were found to be
corroded.
Advanced Industrial Services, Inc. completed the work on June 6, 2013. Staff has inspected the work and
found it to be satisfactory. Staff recommends acceptance of the improvements by the Board.

STRUCTURAL REPAIRS, PROJECT NO. 50241, AS COMPLETE AND
5 DIRECTING THE SECRETARY TO RECORD A NOTICE OF
COMPLETION AND RELEASE BONDS IN ACCORDANCE WITH STATE

WHEREAS, the construction ofthe "Dl" & "D2" Steel Water Tanks Interior and Exterior
Coatings & Structural Repairs, Project No. 50241, has been completed to the Carlsbad
Municipal Water District's satisfaction by Advanced Industrial Services, Inc. on June 6, 2013;

12 WHEREAS, the formal project Notice of Completion has been prepared; and

WHEREAS, all project costs have been established to date.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Carlsbad Municipal Water District Board of
15
the City of Carlsbad, California, as follows that:

17 1. The above recitations are true and correct.
18 2. That the "Dl" & "D2" Steel Water Tanks Interior and Exterior Coatings &
19
Structural Repairs, specifically identified as Project No. 50241, is deemed complete and is hereby
20
accepted by the Board of Directors of the Carlsbad Municipal Water District of the City of
21
Carlsbad.

23 3. That the Secretary ofthe Board is hereby authorized and directed to execute and
24 record the Notice of Completion for the "Dl" & "D2" Steel Water Tanks Interior and Exterior
Coatings & Structural Repairs, Project No. 50241.
