RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Board of Directors ofthe Carlsbad Municipal Water District (CMWD) Adopt Resolution No. 1496
accepting the contract for construction of the Ellery, Elm, & Skyline Steel Water Tanks Interior and
Exterior Coatings & Structural Repairs, Project No. 50241, as complete, and directing the Secretary to
record a Notice of Completion and release bonds in accordance with State Law and City Ordinances.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
On January 29, 2013, the CMWD awarded a contract to Simpson Sandblasting and Special Coatings, Inc.
in the amount of $1,060,380 for the construction of the Ellery, Elm, & Skyline Steel Water Tanks Interior
and Exterior Coatings & Structural Repairs, Project No. 50241.
Simpson Sandblasting and Special Coatings, Inc. completed the work on May 30, 2014. Staff has
inspected the work and found it to be satisfactory. Staff recommends acceptance ofthe improvements
by the Board.

The approval of a Notice of Completion is a ministerial process and is exempt from the requirements of
the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) pursuant to Carlsbad Municipal Code Section
19.04.070A.l.a.

8 WHEREAS, the construction of the Ellery, Elm, & Skyline Steel Water Tanks Interior and
^ Exterior Coatings & Structural Repairs has been completed to the Carlsbad Municipal Water

14 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Carlsbad Municipal Water District Board of
15 the City of Carlsbad, California, as follows that:
1. The above recitations are true and correct.
2. That the Ellery, Elm, & Skyline Steel Water Tanks Interior and Exterior Coatings &
Structural Repairs, specifically identified as Project No. 50241 is deemed complete and is
hereby accepted by the Board of Directors ofthe Carlsbad Municipal Water District ofthe City
21 ofCarlsbad.
22 3. That the Secretary ofthe Board is hereby authorized and directed to execute and
record the Notice of Completion for the Ellery, Elm, & Skyline Steel Water Tanks Interior and
Exterior Coatings & Structural Repairs, Project No. 50241.
