RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Board of Directors ofthe CaHsbad Municipal Water District (CMWD) Adopt Resolution No. 1530
accepting the contract for construction of the La Costa Recycled Water Pipeline, Project No. 5207, as
complete, and directing the Secretary to record a Notice of Completion and release bonds in accordance
with State Law and City Ordinances.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
Qn Oct. 21, 2014, the CMWD awarded a contract to Ortiz Corporation in the amount of $1,219,000 for
the construction ofthe La Costa Recycled Water Pipeline, Project No. 5207.
Ortiz Corporation completed the work on Aug. 21, 2015. Staff has inspected the work and found it to be
satisfactory. Staff recommends acceptance ofthe improvements by the Board.

The approval of a Notice of Completion is a ministerial process and is exempt from the requirements of
the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) pursuant to Carlsbad Municipal Code Section
19.04.070A.l.a.

WHEREAS, the construction of the La Costa Recycled Water Pipeline was completed to
the CaHsbad Municipal Water District's (CMWD) satisfaction by Ortiz Corporation on
Aug. 21, 2015; and
11 WHEREAS, the formal project Notice of Completion has been prepared; and
12 WHEREAS, all project costs have been established to date.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Carlsbad Municipal Water District Board of

the City of Carlsbad, California, as follows that:

The above recitations are true and correct.

2. That the La Costa Recycled Water Pipeline, specifically identified as
18 Project No. 5207, is deemed complete and is hereby accepted by the Board of Directors ofthe
19 CMWD ofthe City of CaHsbad.
3. That the Secretary ofthe Board is hereby authorized and directed to execute and
record the Notice of Completion for the La Costa Recycled Water Pipeline, Project No. 5207.
