Schumacher Charlene Buckalew, Administrative Secretary Mark Olson, Recreation Area Manager~ SUMMARY OF OCTOBER 5, 2017 SENIOR COMMISSION MEETING APPROVAL OF MINUTES By proper motion, the minutes of the Senior Commission meeting of May 25, 2017 and August 1, 2017 were approved. Approved 3-0-0-1 (Commissioner Mehan absent) PUBLIC OPEN FORUM Mary Lucid, an Escondido resident spoke regarding programs and facilities offered by the Senior Center. CONSENT CALENDAR 1. SR# 1017-1 COMMISSION SUMMARY REPORT-(ACTION) The Commission accepted and approved the Summary Reports of May 25, 2017 and August 1, 2017 meetings. Approved 4-0-0-1 (Commissioner Mehan absent) DEPARTMENT REPORTS 2. SR# 1017-2 SENIOR COMMISSION GOALS UPDATE (INFORMATION) Recreation Services Manager Mike Pacheco recommended the Commission establish a work plan. The Commission agreed preparing a work plan for the Commission Members would be beneficial. 3. SR# 1017-3 SENIOR CENTER DEPARTMENT REPORT (INFORMATION) Recreation Area Manager Mark Olson reported on recently completed, ongoing and upcoming Senior Center programs and events. (Commissioner Mehan was absent at the October meeting). CommissionerlaMar is new to the Commission and was not present at the October meeting. PUBLIC OPEN FORUM None CONSENT CALENDAR 1. ACTION: On motion by Vice Chairman Tweedy, second by Commissioner Mehan the approval to recommend Commissioner Sachs as the representative to the Community Development Block Grant Program SR# 1117-2 was approved. SR# 1117-3 NEEDS ASSESSMENT UPDATE (INFORMATION) Special Projects Manager Mick Calarco presented an update on the needs assessment. Commissioners requested some clarification on items reported on by Mick Calarco. 4. SR# 1117-4 SENIOR COMMISSION WORI< PLAN UPDATE (INFORMATION) Recreation Services Manager Mike Pacheco presented options for a work plan for the Commission Members. Commissioners requested information be forwarded to Chairman Pearson, so they could all review information for future work plan recommendations. 5. SR# 1017-5 SENIOR CENTER DEPARTMENT REPORT (INFORMATION) Recreation Area Manager Mark Olson reported on recently completed, ongoing and upcoming Senior Center programs and events.
