Board of Directors Meeting
Friday August 26, 1980 9 A.M. City Manager Conference Room

Present: Chairperson Jackie Urench, Carol Tico, Evelyn Camp, Jan
Bischoff, Marje Howard-Jones, Pat Hcinsen, Mary Casler and Mary
Rice uho represented the Arts Office;.
The minutes uere corrected to show a treasury balance of $2845.02
as of that meeting day.
The yearly treasurer's report was distributed. The balance as of
August 26, 1988 uas $2852.24.
Individual/family memberships are nou 126.
Mary Rice reported on four future programs funded jointly by the
California Arts Council and th<£. City of Carlsbad.
1. Modern dance - an artist-in-residence program for one
ueek, Sept. 19-215. Thoy uill be scheduled around the
community during the uuek uith a main performance at
the Cultural Arts Centor on Thursday, Sept. 23.
2. The Dickens Players from.UC Santa Cruz also uill be artists-
in-residence from December I3-1U uith a main performance on
Dec. 10.
3. The San Diego Symphony uill perform on Sunday, Dec. 18.
4. Carl Stone, a composer using electronics, uill be an artist-
in-residence from May 24-26.
Discussion uas held on hou ue could participate uith the dance group.
It is hoped that a reception for the artists can be arranged after
the main performance. Mary and Jackie uill uork on this.
October 30 uill be :he tentative opening of this year's outdoor
sculpture exhibit. The guest curator uill bo Annette Ridenaur. Plans
are as yet indefinite, but the Arts Associates uill participate in
some uay.
National Arts Ueek uill be November 13-19. Ther<>. uas discussion
on providing a bus tour during this time to the Orange County
Performing Arts Center and the Art in Public Places program of the
City of Brea. Evelyn uill return uith details of bus cost and timing.
A motion uas made, seconded and passed that if a Board member has
tuo unexcused absences that tho member be asked to declare his
intention of remaining on the board.
Chairperson Jackie adjournud the meeting at 11 A.M.
