Civic Center Buildin. Commi April 26, 1967 4:00 P.M. • „ Council Chambers ttefe The meeting was called to order by Chairman f Prescott at 4:00 P.M. Members of the Committee present were Cmn. Dunne, Cmn. Neiswender, Elmer H. Jose, Jr., Robert Prescott,and C. R. Helton. Also present were City Manager Mamaux and the Architects Weber & Edwards. Architectual Agreement. Discussion was given' to the corrected copy of the Agreement between the City of Carlsbad and the Architects, Weber & Edwards. Cmn. Dunne requested under Paragraph 7, that the 90 days specified for delivery of engineering services required under paragraphs 3(a) and 3(b) be changed to 45 days. After further consideration the Committee approv ed the Agreement as modified, and requested that the Agreement be presented to the City Council at the next regular meeting. Plot Plan for Civic Center Building. The Archi- tects presented a Plot Plan showing the place- ment of the buildings. In presenting the plan they indicated it was their feeling the buildings which included the administration building and the Council Chambers, should be placed as high as possible on the property due to the view. They proposed a single story building as it would give the affect of being larger and would give better access. Also a two-story building would be more costly. It was pointed out that Police Department would prisoners. the entrance to be separate for the unloadin It was suggested that the Police Department have a separate entrance at the North end of the building for the general public. Also the City Manager requested that access be made available through the administration facilities to the Police .Department for City employees. The Architects informed the Committee according to the Plot Plan approximately 16,300 sq. ft. had been allowed. Discussion was also given as to providing ad- ditional parking for Police facilities under- neath the Police Department; however, it was felt the cost would be too great due to the excavation.
