Name* Time of Meeting: 4:00 P.M. | Of Place of Meeting: Council Chambers ! Member i The meeting was called to order at 4:10 P.M. •' Members of the Committee present were Cmn. Dunne,' A. H. Peterson and C. R. Helton. Chairman Jose j and Cmn. Neiswender were absent. Also present ; were City Manager Mamaux and Architects Weber &. I Edwards . — \ The Minutes of July 12, 1967, were approved as | corrected. ! Mr. Weber informed the Committee they would be j meeting with the City Manager next week in re- j gards to specification details, and with various j department heads concerning interior requirement^. The exterior and interior materials proposed to j be used in the construction of the Administra- • tion building were reviewed by the Architects. ; Ii Exterior. The exterior of the building will be | exposed concrete block walls, which will be sandy blasted. The front of the building will canti- ; lever over a. 4 to 5 foot wall. The "H" type ! block will be used, and is 8" x 16" x 12" in ; size, making the walls 12" deep. The blocks ! will be colored, and they are having samples ; made of the block which they hope to be able to j present at the next meeting. The recessed block; will be faced with bronze anodized aluminum and j will blend with the tinted windows. The roof j will have truss steel joists, 42" high and will j taper down. This 42" elevation will be used for; ducts. !Iii The Architects pointed out they are attempting ! to keep the roof as clean as possible due to the; view from the Library. ! The masonry will be silaconed. All exterior ! doors and door frames will be bronze anodize. ; The finished hardware will be oil bronze. All ! windows will be tinted. The only outside paint-; ing will be the parking striping. j Interior. The interior walls are to be 5/8" ! drywaTl and exposed masonry. There will be j three coats of paint applied to the walls, four! coats on the woodwork, and two coats in the j storage spaces. The type of acoustical material! was determined at the last meeting. j Mr. Weber stated there is a new pattern in • Vitratex that will be recommended for some of ! the walls. The entire building will be one- | hour fire proofed. ! The City Manager pointed out the Barth Fire ! Alarm System is being installed in the Library,; and inquired of the Architects as to what make ! or system they are proposing. j Mr. Weber informed the Committee the Barth j System was an excellent system, and felt it ! should be considered due to the fact sprinklers; will not be installed in the building. Counters will be provided in the various departments. Carpeting, draperies, furniture as needed, and seats for the Council Chambers will be included under a separate con- tract with the Architects. Plumbing and heating. At the next meeting of the Committee the engineer assisting the Archi- tects will be present to explain the plumbing and heating system. Parking facilities. Two plans for parking facil ities - perpendicular and diagonal parking. By using the perpendicular parking plan it would provide 16 additional spaces. Cmn . Dunne stated he pendi cul ar parki ng . was not in favor of per- Mr. Edwards informed the Committee usually the difficulty with perpendicular parking is caused by the spaces not being wide enough. After considerable discussion the City Manager suggested that the area provided for the em- ployees be perpendicular, and the area provided for the general public be diagonal. Mr. Edwards stated they would present another plan at the next meeting along the lines sug- gested by the City Manager. • - Ingress and egress to parking facilities. It was agreed there should be ingress and egress to the parking facilities from Pio Pico Drive. Mr. Weber informed the Committee they were scheduled to appear before the City Council on August 1 , 1967. Cmn. Dunne suggested that a brief progress re- port be made to the Council at this time. The next meeting of the Civic Center Building Committee was scheduled for August 9, 1967. The meeting was adjourned at 5:30 P.M.
