HomeMy WebLinkAbout1958-03-12; Harbor Commission Ad Hoc; MinutesMINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING OF THE CARLSBAD HARBOR COMMISSION March 12, 1958 The meeting was called to order at 7:30 P.M. by Chairman Walters. Present besides the Chairman were Commissioners Jeffers, Lamb, Maerkle and Schelske. Also present were Secretary Ewald, City Attorney Smith, City Manager Nelson and Mr. Glissman. The correspondence was read and ordered filed. Chairm Walters inquired of the City Attorney as to the navigability laws governing the lagoon. ATTORNEY SMITH stated that there are indications that the lagoon has the history of navigable waters, and explained to the Commission various phases of this law that had been investigated. He also went into great detail on subjects pertaining to leasing possibilities of the land under the waters of the lagoon from the San Diego Gas and Electric Company. After some discussion by the Commission, Chairman Waiters appointed a committee composed of Commissioners Lamb, as Chairman, Jeffers and Maerkle, to study the possiblities of leasing over a long period of 50 years or more, and instructed the Secretary to write letters to the California Small Craft Harbor Commission and the Corps of Engineers, U. S. Army, inquiring about their requirements of leased property. By proper motion the meeting was adjourned at 9:30 P.M. Respectfully submitted, M. O. EWALD Secretary BEST ORIGINAL
