OLD BUSINESS: Wilson Pace reported on Life Line stating they had a meeting last month Dan Lance reported on a proposal by the CIC to have a new ambulance service. People who need an ambulance can call and they will come. The people who can not pay do not have to. The people who can pay will do so. The ambulance will take the person right to San Diego. There are no hospitals around here that will take a person who does not have the money. The services would be paid by taxes. Nancy Rice said it would probably be cheaper to have a private firm take care of it. Then there is always the problem of who can pay and who can't. If it is a drug case, the police will not be brought in but the parents do have to give their consent if the person is under age. The CIC also discussed expanding Palomar Airport. This would bring in the big jets to Carlsbad. Mayor Dunne stated that the Council disapproved the idea. Joanne Ortega is in charge of membership. The Committee decided to have fifteen (15) members. Joanne Ortega stated she would like to add Michele Blake and Ann Prescott. The idea that some people from San Diego should be included in the Committee was discussed as well as the fact that if a member could not attend the meetings, he would be re- placed. The Committee decided to think of a way to help the police on the matter of motorcycles. Making the bikes so they will not make so much noise would help. Another idea was to have the police chief and the motorcycle riders get together and talk at one of the Mayor's Youth Committee meetings.
