Sandra asked Jim Boylan to scribe all the comments that was discussed at the meeting that the Committee thought could be done better or changed for the next Community Conversation. These will be transcribed into a separate document. Partners for Livable Communities joined the meeting by phone at 9:35 a.m. The Committee indicated that they thought the time allotted for the attendees to ask questions could be eliminated. They also suggested having a flow chart showing where the information gathered at the Community Conversations would be used and what the next steps are. The Committee would like to see the City website and where the attendees could obtain additional information at the bottom of all papers distributed to the attendees. The Committee would also like the City leaders to indicate that the City has no plans for a Civic Center (City Hall) to be built on the site at this time. There was discussion by the Committee, staff and Partners for Livable Communities on what can be done to improve the next Community Conversation. The following items were also discussed at the meeting: • The committee discussed how to streamline and improve the meeting, including having the facilitators at the small group breakout tables from the beginning, eliminating the lengthy Q&A session after the small group reports, and making sure that the people who report out understand their job is to relate the whole group’s discussion, not express their personal views. • The committee decided that while it was still preferable for community members to do the reporting out, the facilitators could help them prepare for that and could add comments to the community member’s report if anything of significance was left out. • The committee though that of the three questions asked of the small groups, there was a lot of overlap between the first and third questions and that maybe they could be collapsed. • The committee asked that any video taping be less intrusive and that if anything could be done to lessen the cramped set-up they would appreciate it. • Kudos were given to Jim Comstock and Farrah Douglas for their introductory remarks and to the small group facilitators for the work they did. Michael Holzmiller was also singled out for the credible and diplomatic manner in which he responded to questions. • The committee discussed whether some of the questions that were asked during the Q&A could be handled pro-actively upfront by Michael. City staff will look for opportunities either in the video or other introductory remarks to do that. Public Comment There were several members of the public that spoke. The meeting adjourned at 11:05 a.m.
