She asked the Commissioners to attend that meeting, if possible. Andrea Blum's artwork will probably be included with the bid for the streetscape and will not be separate. Ms. Beardsley announced there will be a meeting today with the finalists for the Senior Center artwork to determine a time schedule on the maquettes. The Sister City art exhibition took 50 hours of staff time to help coordinate the exhibit. Ms. Beardsley said a course in the fundamentals of local arts agencies had been recommended for staff and Commission Members. This will be held November 19 and 20, 1988. The Pops Concert was a successful event. The weather created problems setting up, but did not interfere with the program. Ms. Wrench stated the Associates vent to continue to increase their membership and sponsor more community activities. She said they would like to do something for National Art Week and if this Commission concurred, they planned to ask the Mayor to issue a Proclamation. The Associates helped usher at the Pops Concert and Ms. Wrench commented that it was impossible to see anyone but the conductor, which then prompted a lot of talking in the audience. An elevated stage would make a difference. Ms. Wrench stated the Associates would like to have a Commissioner at their meetings when possible. Commissioner Meilach stated she would attend the Associates meeting tomorrow. The suggestion was made to perhaps alternate meetings, with the Associates attending one of this Commission's meetings one month, and a Commissioner attending their meeting the following month. Chairman Bear asked for this item to be placed on the next agenda to establish a liaison policy. TEMPORARY SCULPTURE EXHIBITION - Annette Ridenour and Terri Rodgers - for approval Terri Rodgers gave the initial presentation, stating they planned to educate the public about art with this exhibit and have them walk away understanding art better. Annette Ridenour continued the presentation, showing slides of work by Rod Baer, Guy Dill, Betty Gold, David Hertz, Sam Leavitt, Peter Mitten, Donna Salem and Joanna Jordan. She and Ms. Rodgers showed boards by T.J. Dixon, Tom Frankovitch, Joyce Kohl, Mario Lara, Jeff Laugenslager, Ellen Phillips and Theresa Takasughi. A project proposal by Kenneth Capps was described, but no proposal had been received at this time. The consensus of the Commission was to have Ms. Ridenour and Ms. Rodgers select the works to be displayed, keeping in mind that it should represent a mixture of materials and be kid-proof. The balance of the exhibition was the major concern of the Commissioners. Terri Rodgers described some of the publicity work that has been done and what will be done, displaying two possible designs for posters that will be used.
