A community arts grant from the City of Carlsbad helped to sponsor three productions: An Iliad, Awake & Sing and Having Our Say. All three programs were well received by audiences and critics alike. New Village Arts has other programs made possible through the grant funding by the City of Carlsbad and other granting organizations include education outreach to local schools and programs for children, teens and seniors. The programs include a Shakespeare program, Verbitas: a documentary theatre project, Kids Act: weekly acting classes for students ages 4-17, year round camps and Monday Night Live!: an improvisation class for special needs teenagers. New Village Arts is also developing the programs Mindful Theatre, an improvisation class for seniors with Alzheimer's and dementia and Teatro Pueblo Nuevo, a bilingual acting program to celebrate Carlsbad history and make the theatre more accessible to the bilingual community.
