CARLSBAD TOURISM BUSINESS IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT
SPECIAL BOARD MEETING
October 23, 2017

Board Member Stripe called the meeting to order at 12:30 p.m.

Ill. AB 10-17-156 GROUP INCENTIVE PROGRAM REQUESTS
Consider funding of group incentive program request that are outside guidelines.
Visit Carlsbad has requested an exception to the group incentive program since each of the
following two requests do not meet the guidelines.
Pacific Coast Surgical Association $4000-0mni La Costa
This group did not involve VisitCarlsbad in the process which is required by the guidelines.
A motion was made by Board Member Idris, seconded by Board Member Malaspina, to allow an
exception to the group incentive program guidelines for Pacific Surgical Association Group.
Motion carried 4-0-1 (Sims Abstained).
Motorists Insurance $6000 -Park Hyatt Aviara
This group did not involve VisitCarlsbad in the process and the time of the group was in June both
of these are exceptions to the guidelines.
A motion was made by Board Member Sims, seconded by Board Member Malaspina, to allow an
exception to the group incentive program guidelines for Motorists Insurance. Motion carried 4-
0-1 {Samietz Abstained).
IV. NEXT MEETING
The Board agreed to hold the next meeting January 24 at 2:00 p.m. Agenda topics to include:
1. Visit Carlsbad mid-year report
