HomeMy WebLinkAbout1984-08-08; Design Review Board; MinutesMINUTES Meeting of: DESIGN REVIEW BOARD Time of Meeting: 5:30 p.m. Date of Meeting: August 8, 1984 Place of Meeting: City Council Chanters CALL To ORDER: The Meeting was called to order at 5:30 p.m. by Chairman McCoy. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE was led by Chairman McCoy. ROLL CALL: Present: Chairman Mdoy, Members RonJsotis, Holmes and Schlehuber. Absent: Menber Marcus. Staff Members Present: Chris Salmne, Commnity Redevelopent Manager NEW PUBLIC HEARINGS: 1. CUP 88(A) HALL - "G AND DISMANIZING Extension of CUP for A-1 Towing and Dismantling located on the west side of Tyler Street between Oak and Walnut Streets . Chris Salomne, Community Redevelopment Manager, gave the presentation on this item as oontained in the staff report, using slides showing Tyler Street as it currently exists. Mr. Salome used a transparency showing Subarea 4 and explained that staff recxxmnded extending this CUP for ten years, with a review each year. Chairman Mduy opened the public hearing at 5:37 p.m. and issued the invitation to speak. Mr. Matthew Hall, owner of A-1 Wing and Dismantling, spoke to the Board, stating he was in agreement with staff and was present for any questions. Since no me else wished to speak on this item, the public testby was ooncluded at 5:38 p.m. Design Review Board renewed Cup 88 for ten years, and adopted the follawing Resolution: RESOLUTION NO. 040, APPWVIFG 'IHE EX"SI0N OF CUP 88(A) FOR AN EXISTING AUTO SORAGE AND DISMANTLING YARD AND AINOINING PARCEL. 2. RP 84-13 - PLAZA DE LA E"TE - Request for a Redevelaanent Permit to rehabilitate existinq 2-story structu& at southwest corner of State and Grand and- change use on second floor from residential apartments b retail designation. Chris Salmne, Commnity Redevelopment Manager, gave the presentation as oontained in the staff report, using a transparency to shuw the existing and the praposed project. He used wall charts to show the exterior of the structure and explained the color scheme to be used. Another wall chart shd the rear area of the txilding and the prwed changes to be made there. Chairman McCay wried the public hearing at 5:50 p.m. and issued the invitation to speak. Mrs. F'rankie Runzo, 355 Elm, spoke in favor of this project, stating she favored keeping the Spanish flavor. She felt the use of the public parking would work out in this case. OF SI'ATE STN3ET AND GRAND Additional conditions: Tile on west end of building to be extended at the top of the stairway to the north end and the tile on the roof lm be extended fram the north to the south end of the building on the west side.
