The executive secretary presented affidavit s of publicat ion of not ices for bids en said Unit "2" and bgulating Reservoir; these were ordered filed. Bids It was agreed by all present that the first bid Aould be Unit (7Bw read in full with only the totals being read on the remain- ing bids. The bids were opened by the Attorney and read by Blngineer Short fo r tabulation by the Directors and fllngineer Curt is. Co, arrived by special delivery mail. According to the post+~mrk, the bid (for Regulating Reser- voir) had arrived at the Carlsbad Post Office at 1 :00 P.M. On motion of Director Bald, second& by Director Rogers , approval of min- utes of the meet ing of January 16 was ordered deferred to the next meetin$, in order that the Attorney may review them. This would leave $145,000 for engin- Finances eering costs, election expense, office expense, other inci- dental costs and contingencies, He moved, therefore, that the Secretary should notify Schwabacher & Co. by telephone that CMWD may not need the entire $1,350,000 at this time and to ask them to hold up on printing of notices of sale and official statement until Saturday when the finance committee will meet to study the matter. The notion was seconded by Director Kelly and carried unanimously, Engineer Short stated that he would meet with the finance committee at 8:OO A.L Saturday, January 19th. - Mr. Van Valkenburgh requested to be heard and upon recopit ion by the Chair presented a letter to the Board in which he agreed, if awarded both con- tracts, to reduce his total charge by $9,000 on the 140 day schedule and $12,000 on the 200 day schedule, The letter was ordered turned over to the Attorney for study ax& recommendation with the original to be placed in the file'. Be ser vo ir Attorney Dennis reported that he had not yet completed the Olemson Option. He promised it definitely for Saturday morning. I On motion of Director Ewald, seconded by Director Rogers, the meeting was adjourned to 9:OO A.M. Saturday, January 19, 1957.
