The megt- was called to order by Chairman Fry. Present: Dirnctors: Swald, Try, Rogers, Xahler Absent: Directors: Kelly
Also pres?&: Attorneys Swirsky and Dennis, and newsmen Carboneau (Blade-Tribune)
and Garland (Journal).
T& Prgsident stated that the purpose of the meeting was to consider re-adoption of
Ordinance No. 8 as well as matters pertaining to the campaign for the glection re
the 2nd aquqduct 8s set for July 9, 1957,
Director Roggrs Stated that a county-wide committee rspresesting 17 member agencies of the Authority will devote pfforts to getting the $35,000,000 bond issue passed Etni
that funds must *oe raised by each community for this purpose. Rogers said hq had ad. vis5d that contributions in accordance with assessed valuation would seem most fair
and that under thqse circwnstancqs Carlsbad's share would be approximtsly $800 of
which $250 has already been paid from eXCqSS fiyds of ths Cit izlens' Committee which assisted with the Ci'&T3 bond election last October. Rogers noted that there will be a mesting of thq full cornittee on iWnesday, hy 29, 1957 at 3:30 Po& He announced that Robert Garland bad agreed to wme as local chairman to assist with thq campaigr The plan of tho committee is to draw resolutions to bq Wssgd by various groups and
organizlations and to advertise through posters on bill bmrds, etc. There will also
be a number of speakers made available, The total to bg raised for this purpose is
$40,000. The name of the committee is *Th, Citizens' Aqtlndact Vatqr Cornittee". Arthur Xarston is treasurer, It was reported firth@ Ynat there'will be 500 polling
places.
Ordinance Oaiwce No, 8 was raviewed and in view of thq number of changes f2lt
NO. 8 1 wcessaq, on motion of Dirsctior Ziahlqr, seconded by Dir4ctor Rogers,
the Attorney was instructed to draw a new Ordinance to be prnsented at the next meeting (June 5, 1957).
On motion of Director Rogers, seconded by Director Zahler, the -sting was declared adjourned at 5:28 P.X.
