Directors present: Kelly, Greek, nohan; absent: Fry; Director Ewald arrived late. It was noted that the Authority will shut down the lir next Fbnday for about a mnth. Manager %gers said no trouble would result since this the wet season. 2. FINAL Engineer Ditsworth stated, and Attorney sirsky concurred, that there i: Contract reason to delay final payments to contractors except for the fact that C Payment solidahd Western Steel has not yet returned its Pelease. The Manager I agreed to notify the firm at once and to hold the check until such relei is received, The Manager pointed out that Boyle Engineering has refunded an additional '$191.&0 to tl: District clearing the account for Improvement District No. 2, Units nA1t and "EP, Condemnation Attorney Swirsky reported that a condemnation suit had been filed this I Ing and the Court issued an order of immediate possession which will be effect Sunday, November 16, 1958, the day before construction is to begin. The Attorn< noted that he had mitten his own check to cover the deposit required and on motion of Director Greek, seconded by Director Carnohan, the check issued to the County was orde~ voided (#2632) and a check for the same amount ($l,5l4,50) written to Mr. Swirsky @261 to reimburse him for his expense. Hinton Attorney SwirsIry stated that he has contacted Attorney Wright and has sc Dansite up a tentative appointment for a conference with the protestants of the Manager Rogers and Director Qlly agreed to attend and it was understood that Egineer Short would also be present, Tax Bill A tax bill for the I&servoir site of Improvement District No. l was red by the Attorney who declared it should be paid since the parcel is outsj the boundaries of the District proper and therefore not exempt. Hersey It was re-:orted that six 2" torrent meters have been removed from the Meters Poway system and -e available at one-half price, approximately $75.00 authorized purchase of these meters. Comty Park Problems of serving water to the County Park were discussed. It was estj mated by Engineer Short that the cost of going across the freeway would 1 abou+, $L,000 to $5,080 - Lease The MaEager called attention to the fact that the library now in the Wesi end of the building occupied by CNWD will probably want to expand in the near future and that he would arrange to purchase the land for office space as authorizt by the Board at an earlier date for an appraised price of $6,500. Chairs The Manager was authorized on motion of Director Ewald, seconded by Direc Greek, to purchase eight chairs from Robert Jams CO. at a unit price of $28.95 plus tsx and freight charges. Golden The Manager reported that there is still trouble with the Golden Andersoa Anderson valves. It was agreed that the general contractor would be contacted in this regard since the trouble started during the period of guarantee. TI Attorney agreed eo pursue the matter. I.D.A. & On motion sf Director Ewald, seconded by Director Camohan, Engineer Sho: Powers of was authorized to represent the District at the corning meeting of the Ir. each, On motion of Director Greek, seconded by Director Ihald, the Boa I MWDiS rigation Distriets Association in Santa Bebara and to urge supper+ of a law to give Municipal Water Districts the same powers as County Water Districts with regard to sewers, etc. Kubota A letter announcing the availability of Jack Kubota, Engineer, for mana- gerial and engineering services was read and ordered filed, I Schools Allan Kelly announced that he had attended a recent meeting of the Carlsl Onion School District in which it was proposed to float bond issues to cover needs for three year periods rather tha to have smaller bond issues every year w: all the work they entail. It was generally agreed that this is a sound plan. Bills Checks 2647-65 written in November and totaling $1,057.27 were approved f motion of Director Ewald, seconded by Director Greek. Checks 2666-83 fo: December totaling $32,368.02 were approved on motion of Director Ewald, seconded by Din ector Greek. Notice of dues for l9j9 for Allan 0, Kelly and W, I?, Rogers for the Anerican Water Work Association was received and payment of dues approved on mtion of Director Ewald, secoi by Director Carnohan. blly Leave President Kelly reqrested leave for a period not to exceed three months Zealand.
