Also present were General Eknager Wood, Legal Come1 Grosse (2:08 ?.E.), Engineer Ford, 371'. William Tdahler, Dam Consultant, md Office Secretary, Approval of Upoyl motion of Director 14?lil7lips, seconded by Director Cannichael, !.!inUtes and unanimozsly carried, the minutes of the regular neetiEgs of I July 5, 1966, and July 19, 1956, were approved as Eailed out by the Secretary. I 'b3eed Control The lbnager repolrted that complaints from various parts of t'ne City Squires Dam area were received last week ab0u.t unpleasant odors in the water and it was traced to Squires Dm. Escondido Nutual's equipmeEC and lab man were hired to run some tests and found the water to be excellent in every way except for the taste , which was eventually traced to a plant growing in the shallow water The Engineer ?.as since identified tke weed zs "Charat? and it has been recommended that t'ne District apply cop-r sulphate to retard the growth and manually hamest the weeds lin the shallow areas. After discussion, it was decided that the staff sl-odd proceed on this covrse of actio= as recom-eEded. Director ?hiltips suggested that the District purch.s.se a weed-burning apnzlratm to take cme of' the weeds on the face of the dam. After discussion, upon motion of girector Phillips, secocded by Director Goe, and unaniEously carried, it was moved t5st the Eanager be a9thorized to pwchase a weed burner for the purpose of burning weeds at Squires Dan. La Costa Engiseer Ford presented for the Bozd's consideratior. a report entitled Reservoir "Reservoir Stxdy - %mho La Costa Service AreaTf setting forth his re- Study commendations on t3e size and location of the facilities which will be yequired for the proposed regulatory storage for t3e La Costa aFea. After reviewing the report in detail, Erector Coe offered the motion that the District accept the Engineer's report on the La Costa Seraice Area and avkhorize him to pre- pase an Add.endum to this study on the constmction cos% and site requirements for rn underground storage facility for this same imyovement and whatever else is necesq sary for negotiation for the acquisition of a reservoir site and easements for this project. Insurance The ?hnager reported that a notice has been -received from the District's Clain insurance carrier that Yle Borsum's had filed a. claim for damses on the I water works activities for the coming year.
