MEETING OF: CARLSBAD MUNICIPAL WATER DISTRICT BOARD AND
CARLSBAD CITY COUNCIL (Joint Special Meeting)
DATE OF MEETING: September 25, 2012
TIME OF MEETING: 3:30 p.m.
PLACE OF MEETING: City Hall Conference Room 3,1200 Carlsbad Village Drive,
Carlsbad, California
CALL TO ORDER: President/Mayor Hall called the Meeting to order at 3:31p.m.
ROLL CALL was taken by the Deputy Secretary/Deputy City Clerk, as follows:
Present: Hall, Kulchin, Blackburn, Douglas, Packard.
Absent: None.
PUBLIC COMMENT ON AGENDA ITEM:
None.
CLOSED SESSION:
Board/Council adjourned into Closed Session at 3:33 p.m. pursuant to the following:
1. GOVERNMENT CODE SECTION 54956.9(a). To hold a closed session to discuss pending
litigation as follows:
Citv of Carlsbad and CMWD v. Pacific Indemnitv Companv. 21^^ Century Preferred
Insurance Co.. Jefferson Insurance Co.. Stonewall Insurance Co.. The Dominion of
Canada General Insurance Co.. First State Insurance Co.. Twin Citv Fire Insurance
Co.. Specialty National Insurance Co. and Great Lakes Reinsurance (UK) Case No.
37-2011-00092451-CU-IC-CTL.
RECONVENE:
The Board/Council reconvened at 5:47 p.m. with five members present. President/Mayor Hall
announced that the Board/Council met in closed session at 3:30 p.m. to discuss one item and
directed General Counsel/City Attorney in what it felt was in the best interest of the citizens of
Carlsbad. There was no final action on these items, and they will be reported at a future meeting
when final action occurs.
ADJOURNMENT:
By proper motion, the Joint Special Meeting of September 25, 2012 was adjourned at 5:50 p.m.
