BEACH AMD TREE COMMISSION April 22 The regular meeting of the Parks, Recreation, Beach and Tree Commis- sion was held April 22, 1954, at ?:30 P. M. in the City Hall. Mr. Oldham, Mrs. Felt, Jerry McClellan and Mrs. Stuart were present. Minutes for March 26th were read and approved. The minutes for the February meeting have not been reported to date. Mr. Bldham saw Mr. Nicklin who represents Helms Bakery, asking the trash from tree trimming be cleaned up and burned. They stated regarding landscaping they promised would be done at a later date, after the City had repaired the sink in oecaa*Avenue. Letter was read from Bob Mollett, 422 N. Pacific, Oceanside, making application for life guard. No action taken, as Dr. Gllnes is to report his contacts for a life guard so plans may be made for the summer season on the beach. Mr. Westree has offered a dawn redwood tree to the City to be plant- ed on a permanent location. The Committee will be glad to accept with appreciation. Mr. Oldham was to write a letter of acceptance. Jerry MoClellan reported that the Chamber of Commerce had voted $25.00 for prizes in the clean-up and improvement contest. They In turn asked the Garden Club to take charge and set up rules. Mrs. Stuart was asked to write an article giving publicity to the clean-up plan for Carls- bad. A report on the planting of trees in the Palisades was made by Jerry district MoClellan. He also suggested the Spanish-American/plant myraporlum, and Ben Acuna was to be asked to make a survey and report to Committee. Mrs. and Boles Felt contacted Mrs. Nichols/re side street planting In Palisade district. Both felt they could not give the time to this matter. Mr. Oldham tendered his resignation, which was accepted with regret. The Commission submitted a list of names to the City Council for a selection to fill the Vacancy. Informal discussion of pending matters was held, including tree trimming, need of a proposed budget, aid to Buena Vista district in regard to their tree planting projects. No action taken.
