HomeMy WebLinkAbout1955-06-02; Parks & Recreation Commission; Minutes10 «> The meeting was called to order by Chairman Westree at 7 '30 P, M, In the GouDcil Chambers of the City Hall, All members of the Commission were present* The minutes of the joint meeting with the Planning Commission on Maroh 28th were read and accepted. The minutes of the Commission's April 28th, May 12th and May 19th meetings were approved as read* Felt moved and Nielsen seconded the motion that a letter be written to Mr. Kenyon to inquire about the status of the State Beach easement ne- gotiations with the San Diego Gas & Eleotrlo Company, the lifeguards, and the transfer of aooretion lands from the State Lands Division to the Division of Beaches and Parks. Motion carried. Christiansen moved that a memorandum be sent to the Harbor Commis- sion informing them of our setting up $1000,00 for a reserve fund for ul- timate purchase of the oove area and requesting their support of this proposed budgeted item and/or their consideration of financial participa- tion in such a purchase. Pelt seconded the motion; motion carried, The following bills were presented: Geo, T. Hill .... $44.00 (removing avocado trees - Holiday Park) N. E. Westree . . . 101,13 (labor and helper - Park- 5^-8-55 through 6-2-55)Joe Apodaoa .... 128,00 (balance due - grading and leveling of_ Park) TOTAL .... ,$273.13 It was moved by Felt and seconded by Nielsen that the above bills be approved and presented to the City Council for payment. Motion carried, Christiansen moved and Felt seconded the motion, that the City Council be asked to approve the transfer to the Park fund the following amounts from the funds indicated; $300,00 from the Trees fund, $275,00 from the Sanitary fund, and $145»^9 from the Life Guard Equipment fund - total, $720,^9; and that permission be requested from the City Council to spend up to the following amounts from the current budget for the items indicated* Irrigation pipe, fittings ..... $250,00 Seed and fertilizer ....... 250,00 Power mower ............ 150,00Labor at Park ........... 305,00 Sanitary toilets .........Total . . . The motion carried* It was moved by McClellan and seconded by Pelt that the Council be requested to authorize a commitment for two toilet units (including servicing) at the rate of $30.00 monthly each, with Leo Williams for the period July 1st to September 16th, and for two weeks at Easter, the units to be placed at the foot of Oak Avenue, The motion carried* The meeting adjourned at 10130 P.
