The Parks and Recreation Commission meeting was
called to order in the Council Conference Room at
2:05 p.m. by Chairman Raul Tarango.

OLD BUSINESS:
A. Harding Street Community Center
Mr. Johnson, Director of Parks and Recreation,
introduced Mr. Roy Blackford who is the principal
architect on the proje'ct.
Mr. Blackford showed the Commissioners maps
outlining changes to be made, to each structure
on the property. Changes included: windows in
recreation hall next to houses will- be removed,
covered patio, sturcture added to recreation hall,
shrine removed to allow for shuffleboard courts
and/or horseshoes. Mr. Blackford also outlined
rooms in community center to be utilized exclu-
sively by Senior Citizens, locations of bathrooms
Parks and .Recreation Department activity rooms,
reception area. Pews will be removed from
auditorium, small apartment above recretion. hall
will probably be used for storage, all doors
will accommodate wheelchairs, break in retaining
wall to offer more accessible entrance to com-
munity center, restrooms added in auditorium.*
Landscape plans prepared by Parks and Recreation
including parking facilities.
Concerns of those in attendance included
scheduling of facilities, kitchen facilities, . i
handicapped entrances, number of entrances to
each facility, security.
Mr. Johnson said scheduling of .facilities will
be handled by the Parks and Recreation Depart-
ment, there will be kitchen facilities in recrea-
tion hall and community center, all entrance will
accommodate handicapped, rooms used exclusively
by senior citizens will have locking cabinets.
Building acrqss street will be relocated to
Heritage Park.
Mr. Egermayer asked why parking lot was being
landscaped.

Mr. Spano said it, was part of the Conditional
Use Permit. ' .
Commissioner Egermayer moved the prelimary plan
of the Harding Street Community Center be
accepted.
Commissioner Wollrich seconded the motion.
Ayes
The Senior Citizen's Advisory Committee expressed
support of the plan.
Councilwoman Casler advised" the Committee she
would make their support known to the Council. :
Commissioner Nelson moved the meeting be adjourn-
ed.

The meeting was adjourned at 3:15 p.m. by Chairman
Tarango
