Diane Nygaard, an Oceanside resident, expressed her desire that the Summary Reports
of the Parks and Recreation Commission reflect the public's comments and the
Parks and Recreation Commission - 2 -September 15, 2014
Commission's responses to their comments, specifically those regarding the General
Plan (Draft) Update.
2. AB # 0914-2 VILLAGE BARRIO PLAN PRESENTATION-(INFORMATION ONLY)
Scott Donnell, Senior Planner, provided a presentation regarding the Village Barrio Plan.
3. AB # 0914-3 PARKS MASTER PLAN UPDATE-(INFORMATION ONLY)
Chris Hazeltine, Parks and Recreation Director, Neelay Bhatt, of Pros Consulting, and
Doug Grove, of RHA Landscape Architects-Planners, presented an update of the Parks
Master Plan for Pine Avenue Park, Poinsettia Park, and Aviara Park.
Jason Martel, a Carlsbad resident, suggested sites for BMX opportunities.
Carlsbad resident Paige DeCino, expressed her support for more community gardens.
4. AB # 0914-5 DEPARTMENT REPORT-(ACTION)
Sue Spickard, Recreation Services Manager and Kyle Lancaster, Parks Superintendent
reported on recently completed and upcoming Parks and Recreation activities, donations
and grants, as well as other topics of local interest.
