Date of Meeting: January 22, 2018 Place of Meeting: Council Chambers CALL TO ORDER Chairman Simons called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m. ROLL CALL Present: Absent: Chairman Simons, Vice Chairman Meenes, Commissioners Withall, Rudick-Stein, Luna, Martinez and Thorp None PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE ANNOUNCEMENTS None. APPROVAL OF MINUTES ACTION: AYES: NOES: ABSTAIN: ABSENT: On motion by Commissioner Rudick-Stein, second by Vice Chairman Meenes, the minutes of the December 1, 2017 Special Parks & Recreation Commission Meeting were approved. Chairman Simons, Vice Chairman Meenes, Commissioners Rudick-Stein, Luna and Thorp. None Commissioners Withall and Martinez None PRESENTATIONS None CONSENT CALENDAR 1. SR# 0118-1 COMMISSION SUMMARY REPORT -(ACTION) TO ACCEPT, APPROVE AND FILE THE DECEMBER 1, 2017 SPECIAL PARKS & RECREATION COMMISSION MEETING SUMMARY REPORT. ACTION: AYES: NOES: On motion by Vice Chairman Meenes, second by Commissioner Rudick-Stein the December 1, 2017 Summary SR# 0118-1 was approved. Chairman Simons, Vice Chairman Meenes, Commissioners Rudick-Stein, Luna and Thorp None ABSTAIN: Commissioners Withall and Martinez None ABSENT: PUBLIC OPEN FORUM None 2. SR# 0118-2 THE CROSSINGS GOLF COURSE UPDATE {INFO) The Crossings General Manager Tate Stull presented an update on the golf course. Commissioners requested additional information on items reported on by Tate Stull. 3. SR# 0118-3 DEPARTMENT REPORT (INFO) Recreation Services Manager Mike Pacheco and Parks Services Manager Kyle Lancaster reported on recently completed, ongoing and upcoming Parks & Recreation programs, events, and park projects. Commissioners requested some clarification on items reported on by Mike Pacheco and Kyle Lancaster. 4. SR# 0118-4 POSSIBLE RELOCATION OF A FUTURE DOG PARK AT POINSETTIA COMMUNITY PARK-(ACTION) Parks Services Manager Kyle Lancaster presented a report on the possible relocation of a future dog park at Poinsettia Community Park. The recommended action was to request that staff advise the City Council of the Parks & Recreation Commission's support to pursue relocation of a dog park at Poinsettia Community Park in the segment of this community park initially envisioned for a multigenerational community center. Commissioners requested some clarification on items reported on by Kyle Lancaster. ACTION: On motion by Commissioner Luna, second by Commissioner Withall SR #0118-4 was accepted, and it was recommended that staff advise the City Council of its support to pursue relocation of a future dog park at Poinsettia Community Park, as noted.
