Present beside Chairman Sutton were members C. D. McCleUan, H. H. Barter, Arnie Stringer, Tom Acuna, J. B. Bond and R. M. Smith. Absent, Col. I. H. Gronseth. Secretary Smith read the application of Shannon J. Dyer for variance in rearyard setback from 25 feet to 123 feet, on property in the 2700 block on Roosevelt Street, described as the westerly half of Lot 39 of Seaside Lands, City of Carlsbad, according to Map 1722. Col, Smith moved that a hearing be held on the applica- tion on October 23rd, at 7:OO p, m. in the Oilers' Room. Seconded by Mr. Stringer. All ayes, motion carried, Chairman Button smrized for the Commission's consideration several ordinances of other communities covering subdivision require- ments, and also reviewed a conversation between himself and bfr. Haelsig, Assistant Director of' the Planning Department, County of San Diego, on the subject. After discussion, Col. Smith moved that as an interim procedure, until such ti- as a proper subdivision ordinance can be drawn up and passed by the City of Carlsbad, the Planning Commission act under the provisions of the San Diego County Ordinance 366 (New Series) as amended, with the addition of 37 re- quirements as specified by the subdivision ordinance of the City of Laguna Beach, in addition to Section 1, Ordinance 832 (New Seriea) County of San Diego; with the further requirement that alleys be required in the rear of all business lots; and including the block lengths for business and residential districts as set forth in Section 7, Ordinance 1328, City of Riverside. Seconded by Mr. Stringer. All ayes, motion carried. The tentative map covering the W. D, Cannon subdivision, Terra- mar Unit #4, was further discussed, and Chairman Sutton outlined the procedure to be followed, stating that the subdivider should be advised of the requirements as quickly as possible and the map re- vised to conform to the requirements, after which the Planning Com- mission will make a recommendation of either approval or non-approval -1- to the City Council, Mr. Bond moved that all information and data be furnished Mr. Cannon as soon as possible. Seoonded by Col. Smith. All ayes, motion carried, There being no further business to come before the meeting, Mr. Stringer moved for adjournment, Mr. Bond seconding. All ayes, meet- ing adjourned.
