besides the Chairman were Comms, Baumgartner, Cockrill, Stringer, Gronseth,
Sutton, Public idorks Director iintlzony. Absent, Corm. Helton.
Comm. Gronseth moved, seconded by Coma. Baumgartner, that reading
of the minutes of the meeting of January 11th be waived. All ayes, motion
carried.
Chairman Bond read a letter from Cartwright 8~ Company giving
quantity prices on aerial maps of Carlsbad as follows:
2000' - 1" . . .$5.00 each Order over $100.00, disc. 10%
1000' - 1" . . .10.00 each Order over $200.00, disc. 20%
400' - 1'' . . .32,OO each Order over $300.00, disc. 25%
and stating that cost for recopying the two prints to make one negative will
be $5O.OO. The quotations were studied and considered very reasonable.
Nr, Anthony stated that the ikxrine Corps photographic classes do this work
and it might be possible to get maps of the area, free from this source.
Coma, Sutton moved that Mr. Anthony be appointed to investigate further
the possibility of obtaining Plarine Corps maps of this area. Seconded by
Comm. Cockrill. All ayes, motion carried.
Comm. Sutton reported briefly on the City Council meeting of Jan-
uary 19th which he attended, summarizing their findings on the advertising
sign matter, in which they sustained the recommendations of the Playlning
stated that the Council requested that the Planning Commission meet with
them and the Civic Center Site Committee at 2':OO P, 14. Saturday, January
30th.
The final map of TIEW DEL OK0 was submitted for approval by
Harry Andrews of Freeland, Peterson and Evenson. The map VJ~S examined,
and the action of the City Council studied, wherein it was indicated that
the Council would approve the final map with a declaration of restrictions,
filed simultaneously with the map, substituted for zoning. After discus-
sion, Comm, Sutton moved that the Commission recommend approval of the
final map of TIEEXA DEL OBO, subject to the anproval of the Director of
Public Works and any other necessary signatures of officials of the City
of Carlsbad. Seconded by Coma. Baumgartner. Four ayes, one nay (Gronseth).

t It"iotion carried, Comm. SutWn further moved that the Commission set hear-
ings forthe next meeting to consider zoning all property now unzoned, for
the reason that certain properties have been entered into subdivision
without zoning, certain properties have signs erected on them, certain
properties have uses not acceptable to the City of Carlsbad, and it is
therefore felt that the Planning Commission should zone a11 propzr'cy
presently unzoned, to the best interests of all citizens of the City of
Carlsbad, Comm, Bawngartner stated he felt it would be inappropriate to
initiate zoning of all unzoned areas at this time, since it would appear
to be too closely connected with approval of the final map of TIERM DSL
ORO, Comm, Stringer concurred, There was no second to the motion,
After further discussion, Comm. Sutton moved that a hearing be set
at 7:3O 3, PI, on February 8th to consider zoning of TIERRA DEL OR0 to B-lB,
Seconded by Comm. Gronseth, Comm. Baumgartner repeated his objection to
any immediate move to initiate zoning in the Terramar area, although stat-
ing that he very definitely felt that such a step should be studied by the
Commission, Comm, Sutton withdrew hls motion, Chairman Bond suggested
that a meeting be held next IIIonday evening at 7:.3O P. M, to study zoning of
the whole unzoned area, and it was decided to meet on Monday, February lst,
for this purpose,
There being no further business to come before the Commission,
Comm, Sutton moved for adjournment, seconded by Comm, Stringer. All ayes,
meeting adjourned at 8:20 P. I:i,
