YPllM Cm, N~tba recorninended that the public hearing ~t: the Pine St, School on July 21st tegasdimg the forthcoming bond election be attended where plans for installing sewers throughout the City or' Carlvbad will be explained, The public hearing was closed at 7:55 P.M, a, The Secretary stated that General Snedeker, Commanding General of! the First Marine Division, had appeared before the City Council when the lieislor Sub- division was submitted, and he had sent SORI@ aerial photographs 05 the area in for whatever use and study the Coirntlission wished co make of them, The Canmission viewed the photographs, but stated they were of no use at this tlme as the sub.. division is no longer under consider8tion0 bo Cm, Jarvie stated that he notzd from thz copy of the Council minutes thae the Council did not approve the Commission's recmendation that a costractor@s offlce be permitted its R-P zones; and that it would be advantageous If the Cam- mission could be advised of the Council's reasons for rejecting such recomnendatione, The Secretary stated that in this instance the Councf'l's derision was based on the City Attornay's advice that contractors are not professional men so it would not be R permissible use 11s required by Ordinance, After discussing the matter, the Commission decfded to reqwest the City Council to send a memo to the Cmission In cases like this, giving their reasons for turning down recommendations made ,by the Conmission; and instructed che Secretary to contact the City Mrmager regarding this requesto co Caznm, Jarvie suggested that a comnittee be set up to make a study of tentative subdivisions, During the discussion on this matteru the Secretary stated that, under the present system, the maps have teen worked on by the City Engineer and others md are technically correct when received by the Planning Commisston so that only minor conditions have to be worked on by the Cmission, The Chairman stated that inasmuch as each member of the Conmission received an agenda 5 or 6 days prfor to a meeting, he would Like for each member to study the srea in question rather than just ci few camnittee members.
