MR. REEDY explained the school is not operating at the present time as the existing buildings are being reconstructed and brought up to the City Code. They are building to allow for 30 students. The school has not been in operation the last year while Dr. Carey has been studying
in Europe. Two years ago they had 12 resident
and non-resident students. The school has taken drop out students and after working with them have put them back in Jr. High School.

DR. CHARLOTTE CAREY, 4539 El Camino Real , explai4-
ed that the purpose of the school was to help i those who cannot get along in public schools. I 1 They work with the students and the parents, de- I
pending on the problems of the youns ters, for I between 2 and 3 years on the average, before thed return the students to public schools to be good: citizens. They are studying ways to decrease i
the time and hope to be able to decrease the I I time to one year. They use the University of i Southenn California extension course which is an :
accredited course and schools have accepted their:
recommendations. She reported that there is a !
great deal of work to do with the parents. I I
Commissioner Palmateer stated that he is an f?l.D. ! and is associated with a physcholigical class and questioned the ages and the time spent. Dr. ; Carey stated that the ages of the youngsters I I would be between 9 and 18 years. They will spend 5 to 6 hours a week with the parents teaching them to deal with the youngsters as they are. I I

in the morning until 5 or 6 P.M. The reason for : this length of time is that some of the mothers i work and therefore the child is kept in school :
until the parent is home from work. There will i be an individual program designed for each I I
individual boy.

F4R. KELLY stated that a good many of the question: were cleared up and answered. He wanted to know i what the recourse would be if they changed from ;

He felt if the students were there! over the week end and started to ramble, the I surrounding property owners should be protected, i although he did not want it to look like a prison!. fie stated that he felt that any school depreci- : ates surrounding property to some extcnt. Very : bright 18 year old boys can think of things to do!.
