Fences over 42" high : ;:::I :cannot be built closer than 10' from the property : (:line on corner lots on the street side, and 20' - a;*@: jfrorn the front yard property line; The main ;reasons for a setback along the street is a jsafety factor and the other is a visual feature. : ;A reversed corner lot should not be reduced. He i jexplained the safety features needed for cars ~back~ng into the street and the factors to be !considered on flat land and on land with steep ;banks. If the Build-: ; ing inspector does not feel he should issue a i permit for the fence because of ingress or egress: ; to the garages, the property owners could still i i apply for a variance if they wished. 8 i The Commission agreed to have the Planning Direc-! I : tor and Building Inspector work with the City : Attorney preparing a draft for.an amendment to : : the ordinance to permit the Building Inspector ! i to issue permits for fences when it does not hurt! : the health, safety and welfare of the people. I I I . I (c) Front yard setbacks on Ocean Street, North i ; of Grand Avenue. The Building Inspector called ! attention to the setbacks on Ocean Street and ! i asked the Commission to consider them. He pointGd : out that most of them have 5' front yard setbacks! ; and there are people planning to develop some of; : the properties who will be 'coming in for variance$ in the near future.
