MEETING OF: SENIOR COMMISSION
DATE OF MEETING: May 2, 2002
TIME OF MEETING: 1:15 p.m.
PLACE OF MEETING: CARLSBAD SENIOR CENTER
CALL TO ORDER:
Commissioner Wood called the meeting to order at 1:15 p.m.
ROLL CALL taken by Kris Westland as follows:
Present: Commissioners Savary, Serrin, West and Wood.
Absent: Weber
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE led by Commissioner Wood.
CONSENT CALENDAR
Action: Commission unanimously accepted Consent Calendar.
FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY
Carolyn Taylor, President of the Friends of the Library gave an informative
presentation regarding what her organization tries to do for the community. The
Friends of the Library are very interested in getting books to housebound seniors.
She is looking for different ways to reach out to citizens in the community to
share books, and books on tape. They also have access to a Braille tape
recorder.
PATIO REMODEL
Scott Bradstreet, with Park Development brought the rendering of the proposed
remodel. Commission was pleased with the drawing. After some suggestions
from the Commission, Bradstreet said he would go back to the drawing board
and incorporate some of the suggestions that were made. Commission will
continue to discuss the remodel and look forward to hearing more from Scott.
PINE SCHOOL
Scott Bradstreet also updated us on the status of Pine School grounds.
Demolition will be completed by this coming September. The Pine School
grounds will continue to house "Stay and Play" program and Centre de
Informacion until other plans have been made.
