MEETING OF: SENIOR COMMISSION
DATE OF MEETING: May 1, 2003
TIME OF MEETING: 1:15 p.m.
PLACE OF MEETING: CARLSBAD SENIOR CENTER
CALL TO ORDER:
Commissioner Wood called the meeting to order at 1:15 p.m.
ROLL CALL taken by Commissioner Wood as follows:
Present: Commissioners Savary, Weber, West and Wood.
Absent: Serrin
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE led by Commissioner Savary.
CONSENT CALENDAR
Action: Commission unanimously accepted Consent Calendar.
MANAGERS REPORT
Swenck informed the Commission on the growing numbers of participants in the lunch
program. The numbers have steadily increased. The May 2nd Country Western Dance
was also a big success with over 100 people in attendance.
CHAIRPERSONS REPORT
Wood attended a North County Transit District (NCTD) meeting. Among the topics
under discussion is the need for seniors to have better bus transportation between the
surrounding cities in the area.
PATIO REMODEL
Swenck said the project should start this summer 2003.
ICE CREAM SOCIAL
Sunday, July 13, 2003 at Magee Park from 11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Included in the day's
venue will be ice cream, hot dogs, live music and a face-painting artist.
VOLUNTEER RECOGNITION EVENT
Commission made some suggestions for next year's event. One idea was to have a sit-
down affair rather than a serve yourself buffet. Another suggestion is to limit the
invitations to only volunteers.

By proper motion, the Regular Meeting of May 1, 2003 was adjourned at 2:15 p.m.
