HomeMy WebLinkAbout2003-11-06; Senior Commission; MinutesMINUTES MEETING OF: SENIOR COMMISSION DATE OF MEETING: November 6, 2003 TIME OF MEETING: 1:15 p.m. PLACE OF MEETING: CARLSBAD SENIOR CENTER CALL TO ORDER - Commissioner Wood called the meeting to order at 1:15 p.m. ROLL CALL - Taken by Commissioner Wood as follows: Present: Commissioners Savary, Weber, West and Wood. Absent: Serrin PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE - Led by Commissioner Savary. CONSENT CALENDAR Action: Commission unanimously accepted Consent Calendar. MANAGER'S REPORT Lori Swenck introduced Ed Diamond the new Nutrition Coordinator formerly held by Sharon McAnally. McAnally resigned her position in order to pursue other ambitions. Diamond has a vast background in food service. He worked with University of California San Diego as a Senior Buyer in the Housing and Food Service department. Swenck announced on Saturday, November 15, 2003 the Rotary Club will volunteer their time to help Scott Bradstreet and some other city volunteers to plant trees, shrubs and flowers at the Senior Center. CARLSBAD UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT VACATED PREMISES Motion was made by Commissioner Savary and seconded by Commissioner Weber to approve the square footage and drawing of the downstairs office space for the pending expansion of the Center. PATIO FURNITURE REPLACEMENT Swenck gave Commissioners pictures of patio furniture that Park Planner, Scott Bradstreet recommended. Commissioner Wood would like to research the patio furniture and see if he might find something comparable. Swenck's concern is to make sure the patio furniture is durable, attractive and last for many years. ADJOURNMENT By proper motion, the Regular Meeting of November 6, 2003 was adjourned at 1:50 pm.
