Date of Meeting December 6,2005 Place of Meeting: Senior Center CALL TO ORDER Vice Chairperson O’Connell called the Regular Meeting to order at 9:00 a.m. ROLL CALL Present: Nelson, O’Connell, Savary and Surridge PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE Led by Commissioner Savary. ANNOUNCEMENTS None APPROVAL OF MINUTES ACTION: AYES: O’Connell, Savary and Surridge NOES: None ABSTAIN: Nelson On motion by Vice Chairperson O’Connell, the Minutes of the Regular Meeting held on October 4, 2005 were approved. PRESENTATIONS None APPROVAL OF AGENDA ACTION: AYES: NOES: None ABSTAIN: None ABSENT: None On motion by Vice Chairperson O’Connell, the Agenda for December 6,2005 was approved. Nelson, O’Connell, Savary and Surridge 1. 2. CONSENT CALENDAR AB #1205-1 SUMMARY REPORT Commission received, accepted and approved the Summary Report of the October 4, 2005 Senior Commission meeting. AB #1205-2 RECEIPT OF DONATIONS Commission received a donation of $1 00 from Jeanette Littlefield and $1 00 from Steve Kaplan to benefit the Senior Center programs. The Commission recommended acceptance by the City Manager. DEPARTMENT RE PORTS AB #1205-3 PRESENTATION ON THE CITY-WIDE VOLUNTEER PROGRAM Sue Irey, Community Volunteer Coordinator updated the Commission on changes in the city-wide Volunteer Program. COMMITTEE/COUNCIL REPORTS 1. Commissioner O’Connell attended the SANDAG, Full Access & Coordinated Transportation (FACT) meeting and gave an update on the current disposition of the proposed transportation services to be offered to the public. 2. Gail Lynn, Recreation Area Manager introduced Jack Risley the new Recreation Supervisor and announced Chris Harmon as the new Administrative Assistant for Recreation programs. Lynn updated the Commission on the status of programs, sponsorships, and the annual KoKo Beach fundraiser and newsletter enhancements at the Senior Center. January 3, 2006 the Center will offer free transportation for seniors who want to stay after lunch and play Bingo on Tuesday’s. Seniors will also have an opportunity to stay later on the day the Center shows the feature movie of the month. Results of the Senior Center Expansion survey will be presented at the next Commission meeting. 3. Jack Risley, Recreation Supervisor updated the Commission on the Senior Nutrition Program improvements and collaborations with North County Charity League, Home Instead’s, “Be a Santa to a Senior” and the Carlsbad Recreation Department Counselors In Training (C.I.T.) program. AGENDA ITEMS FOR FUTURE COMMISSION MEETING 1. Presentation from City Clerk, Lorraine Wood - “City Council 101”. 2. Discuss date and time change for the monthly Senior Commission meeting.
