CALL TO ORDER
Chairperson O'Connell called the Regular Meeting to order at 3:04 p.m.

Present: Hopkins, O'Connell, Surridge and Savary
Absent: Nelson

Led by Commissioner Savary.
ANNOUNCEMENTS
None
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
ACTION: On motion by Commissioner Savary, the Minutes of the Regular Meeting held
on September 7, 2006 were approved.

ABSENT: Nelson
PRESENTATIONS
Craddock Stropes, Marketing and Public Relations Coordinator and Gian Lauro, Recreation Area
Manager presented the prestigious Helen Putnam Grand Prize award for the Recreation
Department's T.R.U.ST. Sportsmanship Program. Stropes showed a video that explained the
TRUST program. T.R.U.ST. stands for "Teaching Respect, Unity and Sportsmanship through
Teamwork."

ACTION: On motion by Commissioner Savary, the Agenda for October 5, 2006
was approved.

CONSENT CALENDAR
1 AB #1006-1 SUMMARY REPORT - (ACTION)
By a 4-0 vote Commission received, accepted and approved the Summary Report of the
September 7, 2006 Senior Commission meeting.
2. AB #1006-2 RECEIPT OF DONATION - (ACTION)
Received donation of $1000.00 in cash from the Carlsbad Senior Citizens' Association.

3 AB #1006-3 RECEIPT OF DONATION (ACTION)
Received donation of $1200.00 in-kind product and services from Thrivent Financial
Corporation.
4. AB #1006-4 RECEIPT OF DONATION (ACTION)
Received cash donation of $250.00 from Sunrise at La Costa to support the September 7th
dance at the Senior Center.
DEPARTMENT REPORTS
5. AB #1006-5 LETTER OF APPRECIATION (ACTION)
Commission will continue this item to the next commission meeting in November pending on
more information from Chairperson McConnell.
COMMISSIONER/STAFF REPORTS
Commissioner Surridge on behalf of Commissioner Nelson attended the Full Access &
Coordinated Transportation (F.A.C.T.) meeting and updated the commission on the proceedings.
Lynn reported that she secured a nutritionist from Tri City Medical Center to be available on the 1st
Thursday of the month for diet planning and nutrition counseling.
Tickets are on sale for $5.00 for the 20th Annual KoKo Beach Restaurant Fundraiser. There will be
a drawing of prizes on October 26, 2006 held in the dining room at noon. After lunch in the
auditorium the Center is having a Halloween Dance with a live band from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Admission is $3.00 and if you come in costume the admission will be $2.00. All proceeds will
benefit ongoing activities at the Senior Center.
