CALL TO ORDER
Chairperson O'Connell called the Regular Meeting to order at 3 00 p m
ROLL CALL
Present Hopkins, Nelson, O'Connell, Savary and Surridge
Absent None
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
Led by Chairperson O'Connell.
PRESENTATIONS
Mayor Bud Lewis and Mayor Pro Tern Ann Kulchm presented a City Proclamation recognizing the
Senior Center staff and volunteers
ANNOUNCEMENTS

APPROVAL OF MINUTES
ACTION: On motion by Commissioner Savary, the Minutes of the Regular Meeting
held on February 1, 2007 were approved
AYES: Hopkins, Nelson, O'Connell and Savary

Addressed the Commission to consider public input when discussing the possibility of
incorporating senior oriented facilities and programs to all new park developments and
existing parks

By a 5-0 vote Commission received, accepted and approved the Summary Report of the
February 1, 2007 Senior Commission Meeting

2 AB #0307-2 ACCEPTANCE OF DONATION - SHANNON ROSE (ACTION)
Received a donation in the amount of $120 from Shannon Rose and recommended
acceptance by the City Manager
3 AB #0307-3 ACCEPTANCE OF DONATION - ESTEE COOPER (ACTION)
The Commission received a donation in the amount of $500 from Estee Cooper and
recommended acceptance by the City Manager
DEPARTMENT REPORTS
4 AB #0307-4 NOMINATIONS AND ELECTION OF CHAIRPERSON AND VICE
CHAIRPERSON (ACTION)
By a 4-0 (1 abstention) vote Jack Nelson was elected Chairperson and by a 5-0 vote Mike
O'Connell was elected Vice Chairperson for the calendar year of 2007
5 AB #0307-5 COLLABORATON WITH THE PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION
(ACTION)
Commission approved the concept of collaborating with the Parks and Recreation Commission
and Senior Commission Chairperson to meet the Chairperson of the Parks and Recreation
Commission to discuss the possible collaboration ideas in the area of senior oriented park
amenities in future parks and existing parks and other city recreational facilities for senior
programs
6 AB #0307-6 UPDATE ON THE SENIOR OF SENIOR CENTER EXPANSION (INFO)
Gail Lynn, Recreation Area Manager updated the Commission on the status of the Senior
Center Expansion
COMMISSION/STAFF REPORT
1 Lynn updated the Commission on the Senior Center recreation and social services programs
Lynn commented how successful the volunteer dinner was and thanked the commissioners for
attending the event
2 Risley presented the statistics on home meal and congregate participation numbers for
February 2007 Congregate has averaged over 100 participants per day for the week of
February 10-162007
ADJOURNMENT
By proper motion the Regular Meeting of March 1, 2007 was adjourned at 4 05 p m

was approved
