CALL TO ORDER
Chairperson Nelson called the Regular Meeting to order at 3.01 p m.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES
ACTION: On motion by Vice Chairperson O'Connell, the Minutes of the Regular
Meeting held on March 1, 2007 were approved.

APPROVAL OF AGENDA
ACTION: On motion by Vice Chairperson O'Connell, the Agenda for April 5, 2007
was approved.

CONSENT CALENDAR
The consent calendar was unanimously approved (5-0).
1. AB #0407-1 SUMMARY REPORT - (ACTION)
To accept, approve and file the March 1, 2007 Senior Commission Meeting Summary Report.
2. AB #0407-2 ACCEPTANCE OF DONATION - JOHN AND MARILYN RUSSELL (ACTION)
To accept a donation of $40 from John and Marilyn Russell and recommend acceptance by
the City Manager
3. AB #0407-3 ACCEPTANCE OF DONATION - ALFRED AND IRENE SCHWARZ (ACTION)
To accept a donation of $50 from Alfred and Irene Schwarz and recommend acceptance by
the City Manager.

DEPARTMENT REPORTS
None
COMMISSION/STAFF REPORT
1. Lynn updated the Commission on the Senior Center recreation and social services programs
Highlights for the month of April will be Native Aztec American Dancers performing from
11:30 a m. to 12:30 p.m in the dining room In conjunction with the entertainment a special
Native American menu will be prepared. Also in the month of April a magician will perform in
the auditorium from 1:00 p m. - 2'00 p.m.
Lynn shared with the commission that Vincent Rodrigues who assists Jack Risley with the
nutrition program, attended a Sunday Brunch at Rancho Carlsbad to talk with the residents
about the Senior Center and promote the congregate lunch program One of the residents
responded by saying she would like to come for lunch and bring some guests. A special menu
is planned for twenty guests who will be attending lunch on April 19th, 2007.
The Senior Center expansion should be ready to proceed in the next few weeks.
2. Risley presented statistics on home meals, congregate and transportation participation for the
month of March.
The annual Spring Bonnet parade was a big success. Congregate participants strolled down
the aisles in the dining room to music. A special Shrimp Scampi with lingumi was prepared on
site by the congregate caterers.
Community Interface Services contacted Risley and asked if there was work available for some
of their volunteers who are developmentally challenged. This would help the volunteers to be
productive and help with their social skills Risley was willing to have the volunteers help setup
and cleanup tables for the congregate lunch 3 days a week and thus far the project has been a
success.
Risley said that he and Gail attended the C.P.R.S. (California Park and Recreation Society)
conference held in Sacramento last month. He felt the conference was beneficial in learning
more about seniors through seminars and meetings they attended at the conference.
