MEETING OF: Senior Commission
DATE OF MEETING: August 7, 2008
TIME OF MEETING: 3:00 p.m.
PLACE OF MEETING: Senior Center
CALL TO ORDER: Chairperson Nelson called the Regular Meeting to order at 3:00 p.m.
ROLL CALL was taken by the secretary as follows:
Present: Hopkins, Nelson, Savary and Surridge
Absent: O'Connell
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE:
Commissioner Savary led the Pledge of Allegiance.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
On motion by Commissioner Savary the Minutes of the following meeting was unanimously
approved:
Minutes of the Regular Meeting held June 5, 2008.
CONSENT CALENDAR:
ACTION: On a motion by Commissioner Savory the Senior Commission affirmed
the action of the Consent Calendar, Items #1 through #3 as follows:
AYES: Hopkins, Nelson, Savary and Surridge
NOES: None
ABSENT: O'Connell
1. AGENDA ITEM 0808-1 SUMMARY REPORT
On a motion by Commissioner Savary Commission adopted/approved to accept the
June 5, 2008 Summary Report.
2. AGENDA ITEM 0808-2 ACCEPTANCE OF DONATION
On a motion by Commissioner Savary the Commission adopted/approved a donation of
$100.00 from the Carlsbad Garden Club.
3- AGENDA ITEM 0808-3 ACCEPTANCE OF DONATION
On a motion by Commissioner Savary the Commission adopted/approve a donation of
$1000.00 from the Carlsbad Senior Citizens' Association.

COMMITTEE REPORTS
Recreation Area Manager, Gail Lynn reported the increasing membership enrollment in the
Fitness Room. The Hot Rods & Cool Treats will be held at Pine Park on Sunday, September
21st from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 P.M.
Recreation Supervisor, Jack Risley updated the Commission on the participation and serving
numbers for the Congregate and Home Meals for July.
The ice machine and steamer in the kitchen have been replaced. Funds have been approved
to replace our 19 year old dishwasher for this fiscal year.

By proper motion, the Regular Meeting of August 7, 2008 was adjourned at 3:50 p.m.
