MEETING OF: Senior Commission
DATE OF MEETING: August 5, 2010
TIME OF MEETING: 3:00 p.m.
PLACE OF MEETING: Senior Center
CALL TO ORDER: Commissioner Nelson called the Regular Meeting to order at 3:00 p.m.
ROLL CALL was taken by the secretary as follows:
Present: Nelson, Hopkins and Savary
Absent: O'Connell and Surridge
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE: Commissioner Hopkins led the Pledge of Allegiance.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES: On motion by Commissioner Savary, the Minutes of the July 1,
2010 meeting were unanimously approved. Commissioner Nelson wanted to thank Michelle
Hardy for stepping in and taking the Minutes of the July meeting while the Senior Center
secretary was absent.
CONSENT CALENDAR:
1. AGENDA ITEM # 1010-1 SUMMARY REPORT OF JULY 1. 2010 - (ACTION)
ACTION: On motion by Commissioner Savary, Commission unanimously
accepted the July 1, 2010 Summary Report.
AYES: Nelson, Hopkins and Savary
NOES: None
ABSENT: O'Connell and Surridge
DEPARTMENT REPORTS:
2. AGENDA ITEM # 1010-2 POSITIVE SOLUTIONS - (INFO)
Received a presentation from Program Manager, Pei-Chen Emily Wu with
Positive Solutions. Positive Solutions is funded by the County of San Diego,
Mental Health Services Act, Prevention and Early Intervention. One of the goals
is to provide mental health prevention and early intervention to homebound,
isolated seniors.
3. AGENDA ITEM # 1010-3 SENIOR CENTER REPORT - (ACTION)
ACTION: On motion by Commissioner Savary, Commission unanimously
approved the July 1, 2010 Senior Center Report.

ANNOUCEMENTS:
The new Assistant City Manager is John Coates, formerly the Director of Recreation. He will
be working both at City Hall and Recreation Administration until such time his position as
Recreation Director has been filled.
FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS:
None.
ADJOURNMENT:
By proper motion, the Regular Meeting of August 5, 2010 was adjourned at 3:30 p.m. to tour
recent park improvements and parks currently under development.
