CALL TO ORDER: Commissioner Nelson called the Regular Meeting to order at 3:30p.m.
ROLL CALL was by the secretary as follows:
Present: Nelson, Pearson, Savary and Tweedy
Absent: Surridge
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE: Commissioner Savary.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Accepted and approved the September 13, 2012 minutes and
postponed the approval of the July 12, 2012 minutes until next commission meeting due to a lack
of a quorum present at that meeting.
CONSENT CALENDAR:
1. AGENDA ITEM# 1012-1 SUMMARY REPORT (ACTION)
Approved the September 13, 2012 summary report. Postponed the approval of the July
12, 2012 summary report due to a lack of a quorum present at that meeting.

Commissioners approved the Senior Center guidelines for participation.

3. AGENDA ITEM# 1012-3 CONTRACT CLASSES (INFORMATION)
Recreation Services Manager, Sue Spickard provided an overview of contract classes at
the Senior Center.
4. AGENDA ITEM# 1012-4 SENIOR CENTER REPORT (ACTION)
Commission accepted and approved an oral report on the ongoing activities, upcoming
events, and donations received, presented by Recreation Services Manager, Sue
Spickard.

Licensed CVS Pharmacist provided the 2012 "all-in-one influenza vaccine." The
pharmacist administered forty-three flu shots.
This month is the annual KoKo Beach Fundraiser. KoKo Beach owners Mr. Jeff King and
Mr. Martin Kouma have sponsored this event for 26 years. Tickets are good through
November 15, 2012.
The Needs Assessment team has narrowed the competition to three consultant groups.
The final selection will be made in the coming weeks.
Parks & Recreation Commission Holiday Social with be at Leo Carrillo Ranch on
November 30, 2012.
5. AGENDA ITEM# 1012-5 ELECTION OF OFFICERS (ACTION)
Commission elected Dr. David Tweedy as Chairperson and Jack Nelson as Vice
Chairperson to serve through December 2013.
ANNOUNCEMENTS:
The November Senior Commission meeting will be held in the Dining Room.
FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS:
Change the day of the senior commission meeting.
