MEETING OF: Senior Commission

CALL TO ORDER: Commissioner Tweedy called the Regular Meeting to order at 3:00 p.m.
ROLL CALL:
Present: Tweedy, Pearson, Savary and Surridge
Absent: Nelson
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE: Commissioner Surridge
APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Postponed the approval ofthe January 24, 2013 minutes until next
commission meeting due to a lack of a quorum of commissioners at that meeting.
CONSENT CALENDAR:
1. AGENDA ITEM # 0413-1 SUMMARY REPORT (ACTION)
Accepted, approved and filed the February 28, 2013 Senior Commission meeting summary
report. Postponed the approval of the January 24, 2013 summary until next commission
meeting due to a lack of a quorum of commissioners at that meeting.
DEPARTMENT REPORTS:
2. AGENDA ITEM # 0413-2 RECEIPT OF DONATION (ACTION)
Commission accepted and received a donation from Lee Elson and Maria Elson Trust and
recommend acceptance by City Council.
3. AGENDA ITEM # 0413-3 VOLUNTEER RECOGNITION EVENT (INFORMATION)
Commission received a report on the annual Volunteer Recognition event.
4. AGENDA ITEM # 0413-4 SENIOR CENTER REPORT (INFORMATION)
Kevin Granse, Recreation Area Manager, discussed program development. Commissioner
Pearson queried if there is a way to find out through a survey asking senior's questions i.e.,
if it is their first time at the center and put a range down for their ages and ask if they are
new customers. Granse stated that we do survey our participants, and that we can include
additional demographic questions.
Commission wanted to thank staff for putting together the Volunteer Recognition dinner.

Intergenerational gardening.
