MEETING OF: Senior Commission

CALL TO ORDER: Commissioner Nelson called the Regular Meeting to order at 3:00 p.m.
ROLL CALL:
Present: Nelson, Pearson, Savary and Surridge
Absent: Tweedy
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE: Commissioner Savary
APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Commission accepted and approved the June 27, 2013 minutes.
CONSENT CALENDAR:
1. AGENDA ITEM # 0713-1 SUMMARY REPORT (ACTION)
Accepted, approved and filed the June 27, 2013 Senior Commission meeting summary
report.
DEPARTMENT REPORTS:
2. AGENDA ITEM # 0713-2 CANCELLATION OF AUGUST SENIOR COMMISSION
(ACTION)
Commission approved the cancellation ofthe August 22, 2013 meeting.
3. AGENDA ITEM # 0713-3 SENIOR CENTER REPORT (INFORMATION)
Kevin Granse, Recreation Area Manager, gave an oral report on the ongoing activities and
upcoming events. Discussed the potential for an intergenerational program to include
seniors and the teens from the Park & Recreation Department LITE program. Further
details would be provided as they become available.
The upcoming vacancies on the Senior Commission were discussed, and Kevin Granse
clarified that terms expired at the end of September. Should new commissioners not be
appointed by that time, commissioners with an expiring term may continue at the Mayor's
discretion.
In order to accommodate one of the speakers for the next commission meeting, the
commission agreed to have the time and date changed. The meeting is now scheduled for
Monday, September 16"" at 4:30 p.m.

Intergenerational gardening.
