MEETING OF: Senior Commission

CALL TO ORDER: Commissioner Pearson called the Regular Meeting to order at 3:00 p.m.
ROLL CALL:
Present: Min, Nelson, Pearson, and Tweedy
Absent: Sachs
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE: Commissioner Tweedy
APPROVAL OF MINUTES: By proper motion, the minutes ofthe Senior Commission
meeting of May 22, 2014 was accepted and approved.
CONSENT CALENDAR:
1. AB # 0714-1 SUMMARY REPORT (ACTION)
Accepted, approved and filed the May 22, 2014 Senior Commission meeting summary
report.
DEPARTMENT REPORTS:
2. AB # 0714-2 SENIOR CENTER REPORT (INFORMATION)
The North Coastal Prevention Youth Coalition in conjunction with the Vista Community
Clinic health professional will make a presentation at the Senior Center on August 14 at
10:30 a.m. about the growing problem of prescription drug abuse and what grandparents
can do to help prevent it. The Carlsbad Police will provide a portable drop box to dispose
ofany unused or expired medications between 10:15 to 10:45 a.m.
Kevin Granse, gave an oral report on the ongoing activities and upcoming events.
ANNOUNCEMENTS:
Kevin Granse announced that the September and November Senior Commission meetings
will not be held on the regularly scheduled days in order to accommodate presentations on
updated master plans for Aviara, Pine Avenue, and Poinsettia Parks.
FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS:
1. Presentation from the Planning Department on Village and Barrio Master Plan
2. Response to Commissioners regarding General Plan status
3. Building maintenance status
