MEETING OF: Senior Commission

CALL TO ORDER: Commissioner Pearson called the Regular Meeting to order at 3:06 p.m.
ROLL CALL:

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE: Commissioner Sachs
APPROVAL OF MINUTES: By proper motion, the minutes of the Senior Commission
meeting of October 23, 2014 was accepted and approved.
CONSENT CALENDAR:
1. AB # 1114-1 SUMMARY REPORT (ACTION)
Accepted, approved and filed the October 23, 2014 Senior Commission meeting summary
report.
DEPARTMENT REPORTS:
2. AB #1114-2 AVIARA. PINE AVENUE. AND POINSETTIA PARKS MASTER PLAN
UPDATES (ACTION)
Chris Hazeltine, Parks and Recreation Director, and Neelay Bhatt, of Pros Consulting,
presented the proposed updates to the master plan updates for Aviara, Pine Avenue, and
Poinsettia Parks. Commission unanimously accepted the presentation, and recommended
City Council acceptance.
• John Gomez, a Carlsbad resident, expressed his support of the updates to the Pine
Avenue Park master plan, and hoped that funding would be appropriated to begin
any updates quickly.
• Sherry Alvarado, a Carlsbad resident, expressed her support of the updates to the
Pine Avenue Park master plan, and hoped that the botanical garden aspect of the
updates be addressed before other concepts.
3. AB # 1114-3 RESCHEDULING OF DECEMBER SENIOR COMMISSION MEETING
(ACTION)
Due to the regular meeting of the Senior Commission falling on a holiday in December, the
Commission unanimously accepted to cancel the meeting and reconvene in January,
2015.

4. AB# 1114-4 COMMISSIONER RESPONSIBILITIES (INFORMATION)
Item tabled until January, 2015 regular meeting to allow opportunity for absent
Commissioners to participate in discussion.
5. AB # 1114-5 SENIOR CENTER REPORT (INFORMATION)
Kevin Granse, gave an oral report on the ongoing activities and upcoming events.
