HomeMy WebLinkAbout2015-08-27; Senior Commission; MinutesMINUTES MEETING OF: Senior Commission DATE OF IVIEETING: August 27, 2015 TIME OF MEETINSG: 3:00 p.m. PLACE OF MEETING: Senior Center CALL TO ORDER: Chairperson Sachs called the Regular Meeting to order at 3:00 p.m. ROLL CALL was taken by Chairperson Sachs as follows: Present: Commissioners Pearson, Sachs, and Tweedy Absent: Commissioners Nelson and Min PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE: Chairperson Tweedy led the Pledge of Allegiance. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: ACTION: Motion by Commissioner Pearson and duly seconded by Commissioner Tweedy, to approve the minutes of the Regular Meeting of May 28, 2015 were approved. AYES: Commissioners Pearson, Sachs, and Tweedy NOES: None ABSTAIN: None ABSENT: Commissioners Nelson and Min CONSENT CALENDAR: 1. AB # 0815-1 - SUMMARY REPORT - (ACTION) The Commission to accept, approve and file the May 28, 2015 Senior Commission meeting summary report. ACTION: Motion by Commissioner Tweedy and duly seconded by Commissioner Pearson, AB #0815-1 ofthe consent calendar was approved. AYES: Commissioners Pearson, Sachs, and Tweedy NOES: None ABSTAIN: None ABSENT: Commissioners Nelson and Min DEPARTMENT REPORTS: 2. AB # 0815-2 - DRAFT OF MEMO TO STAFF - (ACTION) Commission accepted the draft memo to Carlsbad Senior Center staff in recognition of their work. August 27, 2015 Senior Commission Meeting Page 2 ACTION: Motion by Commissioner Tweedy and duly seconded by Commissioner Pearson, AB #0815-2 was approved. AYES: Commissioners Pearson, Sachs, and Tweedy NOES: None ABSTAIN: None ABSENT: Commissioners Nelson and Min AB # 0815-3 - SENIOR COMMISSION GOAL SETTING - (INFORMATiON) Commission decided to continue this item to the next agenda. 4. AB # 0815-4 - SENIOR CENTER REPORT - (INFORMATION) Kevin Granse, Recreation Area Manager, gave an oral report on the ongoing activities and upcoming events, and distributed monthly statistics to commissioners. Commissioner Nelson provided comments to share with the Commission related to the updates to the city's General Plan. Kevin Granse confirmed with the Commission that their advisory comments, which were approved at a previous meeting of the Senior Commission, were received by the City Council.
