MEETING OF: Senior Commission
DATE OF MEETING: January 28, 2016

CALL TO ORDER: Chairperson Sachs called the Regular Meeting to order at 3:02 p.m.
ROLL CALL: Chairperson Sachs took roll call:
Present: Commissioners Nelson, Pearson, Sach
Absent: Commissioners Min and Tweedy
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE: Commissioner Pearson led the Pledge of Allegiance.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
Commission postponed the approval of the October 22, 2015 minutes due to a lack of a quorum
of commissioners at that meeting. (Commissioners Sach and Pearson were absent at the
October meeting).
CONSENT CALENDAR:
1. AB # 0116-1 SUMMARY REPORT (ACTION)
Commission postponed the approval of the October 22, 2015 summary due to a lack of a
quorum of commissioners at that meeting.
DEPARTMENT REPORTS:
2. AB # 0116-2 ELECTION OF SENIOR COMMISSION OFFICERS (ACTION)
Commission postponed nominations for chair and vice chairperson for the 2016 calendar
year until next commission meeting as to include Commissioners Min and Tweedy in the
election process.
3. AB # 0116-3 SENIOR CENTER REPORT (INFORMATION)
Kevin Granse, Recreation Area Manager, gave an oral report on the ongoing activities and
upcoming events. He distributed the monthly statistical report to the Commissioners.
Commission Nelson asked Kevin Granse for clarification on the process for providing
comments to the City Council. Kevin Granse stated he would follow-up with
Chris Hazeltine, Parks & Recreation Director.

Kevin Granse, Recreation Area Manager, introduced Mike Pacheco, the new Recreation Services
Manager.
He also announced a new Public Arts Committee for the new Pine Park construction for the art
component of the community garden. Commissioner Nelson is on the committee and a Carlsbad
art student who attends the city's teen program. It is an inter -generational committee.

By proper motion, the Senior Commission Meeting of January 28, 2016 was adjourned at
3:55 p.m.
