CALL TO ORDER: Chairperson Min called the Regular Meeting to order at 3:05 p.m.
ROLL CALL: Minutes Clerk, Michele Hardy took roll call:

Absent: Commissioner Sachs
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE: Commissioner Tweedy led the Pledge of Allegiance
APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
Chairperson Min asked if there were any corrections or revisions to the minutes of
the meeting August 25, 2016.

1. AB # 0916-1 SUMMARY REPORTS (ACTION)
The Commission to accept, approve and file the August 25, 2016 Senior Commission
meeting summary report.

DEPARTMENT REPORTS:
2. AB # 0916-2 PINE AVE COMMUNITY PARK PROJECT (ACTION)
Kyle Lancaster, Parks Services Manager, and Liz Ketabian, Park Planning Manager, gave
a presentation on the Pine Avenue Community Park Improvements (Community Center
and Gardens Construction).

Nelson, AB #0916-2 to accept report and advised staff to seek City
Council approval of the project's plans/specifications and authorization to
advertise the project for public bids was approved.

3. AB # 0916-3 SAN DIEGO NORTH COUNTY COASTAL VILLAGE PRESENTATION
(INFORMATION)
Laim Dunfey from the San Diego North County Coastal Village shared information with the
Commission about the organization and its goals and objectives for the senior and older
adult community.
4. AB # 0916-4 SENIOR CENTER REPORT (ACTION)
ACTION: Motion by Commissioner Tweedy and duly seconded by Commissioner
Pearson, AB #0916-4 to schedule a future special meeting of the Senior
Commission to be held at Rancho Carlsbad Senior Community was

5. AB # 0916-5 SENIOR CENTER REPORT (INFORMATION)
Kevin Granse, Recreation Area Manager, reported on recently completed events and
shared statistics and attendance figures from recent programming.
ANNOUNCEMENTS:
Kevin Granse, Recreation Area Manager, updated Commissioner Tweedy on the reorganization
of the Parks & Recreation Department and the reassignment of Recreation Area Managers since
he missed the last meeting. Mr. Granse has been reassigned to oversee Calavera Hills and
Stagecoach Community Centers effective September 26, 2016. He will be assisting in the
transition for the next couple of months. Mark Olson, Recreation Area Manager, will be
overseeing the Senior Center and Senior Commission.

Mr. Granse also announced that Commissioner Nelson's expires in September. Mr. Granse will
keep the Commission posted once a new Commissioner has been appointed.
Mr. Granse reminded the Commissioners of the Boards and Commission appreciation dinner on
September 29, 2016 at the Crossings at 5:30p.m.
