MEETING OF: Senior Commission
DATE OF MEETING: March 1, 2018
TIME OF MEETING: 3:00 p.m.
PLACE OF MEETING: Senior Center
CALL TO ORDER: Chairperson Mehan called the Regular Meeting to order at 3:00 p.m.
ROLL CALL: Minutes Clerk, Charlene Buckalew took roll call:
Present: Chairperson Mehan, Vice Chairperson Tweedy, Commissioners Pearson and
Sachs.
Absent: None
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE: Commissioner Sachs led the Pledge of Allegiance.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
Chairperson Mehan requested a motion to approve the minutes of the February 1, 2018
Senior Commission meeting.
ACTION: Motion by Commissioner Pearson and duly seconded by Commissioner
Sachs, to approve the minutes of the regular meeting of
February 1, 2018 was approved.
AYES: Chairperson Mehan, Commissioners Sachs and Pearson
NOES: None
ABSTAIN: Vice Chairperson Tweedy
ABSENT: None
CONSENT CALENDAR:
1. SR # 0318-1 SUMMARY REPORT (ACTION)
The Commission to accept, approve and file the February 1, 2018 Senior Commission
meeting summary report.
ACTION: Motion by Commissioner Sachs and duly seconded by
Commissioner Pearson, SR #0318-1 of the consent calendar
approved.
AYES: Chairperson Mehan, Commissioners Pearson and Sachs
NOES: None
ABSTAIN: Vice Chairperson Tweedy
ABSENT: None

2. SR # 0318-2 SENIOR COMMISSION WORK PLAN (INFORMATION)
Commissioners presented suggestions for a future work plan.
3. SR # 0318-3 SENIOR CENTER DEPARTMENT REPORT (INFORMATION)
Recreation Area Manager Mark Olson gave an oral report on the ongoing activities and
upcoming events.
Commissioners requested additional information on items reported on by Mark Olson.

PUBLIC COMMENTS:
Mary Lucid, an Escondido resident spoke regarding programs and facilities offered by the
Senior Center.
Francine Peuder, a Vista resident spoke regarding the Senior Center computer room.
Richard Hartman, a Carlsbad resident spoke regarding programs and facilities offered by the
Senior Center.
Pauline Wrolleowski, a Carlsbad resident spoke regarding the Senior Center computer room.
