CALL TO ORDER: Chair Mehan called the Regular Meeting to order at 3:00 p.m.
ROLL CALL: Recreation Area Manager, Margaret Hamer took roll call:
Present: Chair Mehan, Vice Chair Tweedy, Commissioners Pearson, Sachs and
Rodenhausen.
Absent: None
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE: Commissioner Rodenhausen led the Pledge of Allegiance.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
Chair Mehan requested a motion to approve the minutes of the September 6, 2018 Senior
Commission meeting.

Motion by Commissioner Pearson and duly seconded by Vice Chair
Tweedy to approve the minutes of the regular meeting of
September 6, 2018 was approved.

DEPARTMENT REPORTS:
1. SR# 1118-1 SCHEDULE SPECIAL SENIOR COMMISSION MEETINGS AT ALTERNATE
COMMUNITY CENTERS IN THE CITY -(INFO)
Commission discussed having Special Meetings at alternate Carlsbad Parks & Recreation
facilities.
Per direction by the City Clerk's Office, the meetings must remain at the same location for
consistency with other commission meetings and city council meetings.

2. SR# 1118-2 DISCUSS INTERGENERATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES-(INFO)
Commission discussed intergenerational opportunities for the Senior Center.
3. SR# 1118-3 SENIOR CENTER COMPUTER ROOM RELOCATION -(INFO)
Commission received a report on the relocation plan for the Senior Center computer room.
4. SR# 1118-4 DEPARTMENT REPORT -(INFO)
Recreation Services Manager Mike Pacheco gave an oral report on the ongoing activities
and upcoming events.
Commissioners requested additional information on items reported on by Mike Pacheco.
ANNOUNCEMENTS: None
PUBLIC COMMENTS:
Mary Lucid, an Oceanside resident spoke regarding programs and facilities offered by the
Senior Center.

Surveys for Declining Senior Center Programs
Marketing for Senior Commission Meetings

By proper motion, the Senior Commission Meeting of November 1, 2018 adjourned at
4:18 p.m.
