CALL TO ORDER: Chair Rodenhausen called the meeting to order at 3:00 p.m.
ROLL CALL: Minutes Clerk Char Buckalew took roll call:
Present: Chair Rodenhausen, Vice Chair Sachs, Commissioners Mehan, Rangus and
Wilson.
Absent: None
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE: Commissioner Wilson led the Pledge of Allegiance.
ANNOUNCEMENTS:None
APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
Tabled the approval of the Sept. 5, 2019 minutes due to a lack of a quorum of commissioners
who were present at the Sept. 5, 2019 meeting.
Chair Rodenhausen requested a motion to approve the minutes of the Nov. 7, 2019 senior
commission meeting.

On motion by Commissioner Mehan and duly seconded by
Commissioner Rangus the minutes of the meeting of Nov. 7, 2019 were
approved.

PUBLIC COMMENTS:
Mary Lucid, Oceanside resident spoke regarding her concerns at the Senior Center.

DEPARTMENT REPORTS:
1. SR# 0120-1 ELECTION OF SENIOR COMMISSION OFFICERS
Chair Rodenhausen invited commissioners to express their interest in becoming chair and
vice chair for the 2020 calendar year. Nominations were solicited for commission officers.
ACTION: After nomination and a vote by the commission, Chair Rodenhausen was elected
as chair of the senior commission for the 2020 calendar year. After nomination and a vote
by the commission, Commissioner Wilson was elected as vice chair of the senior
commission for the 2020 calendar year.
AYES: Chairperson Rodenhausen, Vice Chair Sachs, Commissioners Mehan, Rangus and
Wilson

2. SR# 0120-2 DEPARTMENT REPORT
Recreation Area Manager Margaret Hamer and Recreation Specialist Jennifer Burros gave
an oral report on the ongoing activities and upcoming events.
Commissioners requested additional information on items reported by Margaret Hamer and
Jennifer Burros.
COMMITTEE/CITY COUNCIL REPORTS
Vice Chair Sachs gave a brief report on the housing element advisory committee (HEAC). An
advisory committee with regards to the general plan. Just in the beginning stages will be meeting
twice a month.

By proper motion, the senior commission meeting of Jan. 30, 2020 adjourned at
